Airtightness | Background ventilation testing

We provide CIBSE TM23 compliant testing to meet the requirements of Section 6 of the Scottish building standards technical handbook.

It is important to ensure that there is adequate ventilation to provide sufficient fresh air and prevent mould growth. Background ventilation and Airtightness testing determines if minimum levels of ventilation are present before and after improvement measures are installed.

Pulse is an innovative, efficient, portable compressed air-based system that is used to measure the air permeability of a building or enclosure at a near ambient pressure level of 4Pa.

We are part of the Elmhurst Energy approved airtightness scheme.

Airtightness tests can also be used in MCS 12831 heat loss calculations for heat pump sizing.

Sound Insulation Testing

Section 5 of the Scottish Building Regulations addresses noise reduction in buildings, requiring specific sound insulation standards to minimise noise transmission between spaces, including airborne sound for walls as well as airborne and impact sound for floors. New constructions and conversions must meet defined performance levels, verified through mandatory pre-completion testing by a qualified personnel.
